Miguel Villarino was born in Morales del Rey, Zamora, Spain, in 1959.
After studying in the Applied Arts school of Madrid, he develops an interest in engraving, beginning to work on it on his own. His desire to deepen on graphic arts, takes him to enter the workshop of the engraving master Theo Diertrich in Madrid, and later on to study in the National School of Fine Arts.
His interest in engraving will last, and unlike other artists, it has remained an important part of his artistic career. In 1983 he establishes his own workshop and in 1989 he opens M más M ediciones, a publishing house focused in graphic arts. Over the years he has collaborated with workshops in Italy, France, Germany or Portugal has presented several exhibitions centered in graphic arts only.
He has also been a professor, teaching engraving in the Centro Andaluz de arte Seriado (Andalusian Center of Serial Art), la Fundación CIEC, Kulturwerkstatt HAUS 10 de Múnich, Casa del Artista (House of the artist) in Costa Rica, Instituto Cervantes in Tangier…
Over the years he has received several awards such as the MBW painting award or the Reina Sofia Special Award. His work is present in several museums and public collections such as the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía, Museo Nacional del Grabado Español Contemporáneo de Marbella, el Museo Municipal de Arte Contemporáneo de Madrid o la Calcografía Nacional en Madrid.
