Miquel ARNAL (Barcelona)
Since 1984, Miquel ARNAL has developed several photographic projects focused on space and its use by man. Among them, his photographic series Terra and Urbe. The Terra series, made in Mali and Burkina Faso, portrays the fusion of earth and construction. His investigative work on the evolution of the human body also stands out, protagonist of the Animal and Sculpture series. Composed of black and white images, this series evokes the work of classical artists such as Rodin, Da Vinci or Giocometti.
After his first exhibition at the Spectrum-Canon Gallery in 1979, Miquel ARNAL participated in three editions of the Primavera Fotográfica de Barcelona (1992, 1998 and 2002). In 2010, the Ateneo de Caixa Laietana hosted the Retrospective, Works curated by Jean Paul Perrier. In later years, Miquel participated in numerous collectives among which stand out BAC 2011 and OVNI in the gallery Valid Foto, CIFB at the MACBA, OCAÑA in La Virreina and Cultural Center Montehermoso, RITUAL at the Royal College of Art and Drive My Car in the Tagomago gallery. He has earned multiple awards in all aspects of his career and his work is part of both public and private collections.
After several photographic trips to the north and south of the American continent, to several Asian countries and of course Europe, Fran MARTÍ began his African journey in Kenya in 2007. Since then his projects have taken him to Ethiopia on several occasions, as well as to Namibia, Zambia, Tanzania, Zimbabwe, Gambia, the South African Republic and Botswana. All of these trips in collaboration with Bushmen, Mursis, Himba, Massais, Hamer and other indigenous tribes. The result of this work is the traveling exhibition "Ethiopia Between Dream and Reality”. The book of the same name was awarded "Best Digital Print 2014" by the Guild of Graphic Arts and the Communications Industry of Catalonia. His current series, ”Animal”, is also a result of his travels in Africa. Elephants, rhinos, cheetahs, leopards, giraffes, zebras, lions, hippos and crocodiles are just some of the animals he has photographed. In 2015, together with photographers Miguel Soler-Roig and Juan Más-Bagá, MARTÍ created the collective "Trilight collective" with whom he has participated in the project "Under the Andalusian Sky" along with Kim Weston. His project "Panta Rei", developed over the last eight years and the result of a very personal vision of the world, has received excellent reviews.
